Balticon 39This is a featured page

This particular BPOW, featured in Episode 6: Precious Moments, was about Balticon 39, a science fiction convention in Baltimore, Maryland.

The reasons Balticon 39 was selected are as follows:
  • The Podcast opened in mid-sentence; "The first word is 'well'", as Patrick described it, and did not introduce the show.
  • A complete lack of post production
  • Idiotic hosts

The lack of badly needed post production was the first subject of Patrick's wrath, as there was a lot of recorded content where they are simply talking to each other about how they are going to conduct the podcast. As well as this, the hosts of the show are incredibly geeky, yet one guy made a comment suggesting that iPod is the epitome of audio quality, and another guy reveals how it took almost a week for him to get his own podcast episode out from the time he recorded it.
Lastly, it had a fairly funny sound clip, which became popular on NLO. Patrick described it as "probably the funniest line I've ever heard on a podcast". The host of the BPOW tells his listener(s) about a German marketer called Nicole Simon of the Useful Sounds podcast, who according to him has "the buttsexiest voice in podcasting." Patrick made this a permanent sound clip in the NLO archive, and was even put in the short lived NLO pack, and on the first set of NLO t-shirts.
