“Fuck you, gay Adam!” became a popular sign off for many voicemails and emails at one point in the show’s history. While the phrase was first used in a voicemail left by “Speedracer” in Episode 032, there had already been numerous comments made by listeners by that time that Adam was gay. Patrick was amused by the fact that so many fans thought Adam was gay, considering he has a wife a son. The acronym of “FYGA” also saw use in place of the full phrase.

As time went on, the frequency of “Fuck you, gay Adam!” declined, but was still in use. Various phrases related to FYGA began to appear, such as “Fuck you, gay Nick!” or poor attempts at rewording FYGA. One such failed attempt was in a call from Deric from Caked On Stripes, where he ended the call with “Oh, and Adam, gayyyyyyy.” None of these had the same effect as “Fuck you, gay Adam!”

The appearance of Nick Starr on the show drew verbal attacks from the fans away from Adam and to himself. Adam began to become upset at the loss of attention he was receiving. He asked listeners to end with “Fuck you, gay Adam!” and to not try altering it, like one fan who added “and Nick” to the end.

The popularity of this phrase saw it put into use in many circumstances. The acronym FYGA was once used as the password for poker tournaments, and used by fans for various other things. When Adam launched GetAdamAniPod.com, Patrick countered with FuckYouGayAdam.com. Both sites took donations to buy an iPod for Adam, but in Patrick’s version, he would smash the iPod in front of Adam.
