Show History
Nick Starr first appeared as a guest in Episode 42.
The famous "ass everywhere... it's oh... it's so hot" sound clip came straight from Nick's mouth in episode 54. "She lives outside of Jacksonville, which is just a train ride away" was another popular quote as well. Both are referring to the listener who pretended to find Nick sexually attractive. Fake photographs were also sent to Nick to trick him. Of course, it was all just a prank.
To the regular live show listeners, Nick will always be remembered for triggering the demise of Episode 66. Several minutes after the show began with just
Patrick and Adam, Starr turned up at Patricks house. The combination of Patrick's illness at the time and Nick Starr turning up uninvited and halfway through a show was too much for Patrick, who felt he could not continue the show afterwards, and as such, Episode 66 was withheld from release, making 'the lost episode' of NLO at the time. Episode 66 was offered for release as an incentive for fans to donate $1332, $666 each, for both Patrick and Adam to go to the Podcast expo in California. It was released on September 17, 2006. There are warnings in the episode's shownotes saying that the episode sucks.
After the recording of episode 88 (on 6/6/06), Nick refused to participate in the after-show videos because of his claims that he is doesn't like to have his picture taken. He was provoked by Patrick's antics because Patrick insisted on filming a video regardless of Nick's protests. Nick's constant clamoring and jumping at Patrick to try to stop the filming was met by Patrick causing Nick to curl up and retreat several times. Patrick continued to annoy and irritate Nick, and Nick eventually got so frustrated that he punched a box of donuts and cookies he brought for Adam, then stormed out, slamming the door behind him. He then stood outside for a few minutes screaming and complaining, and trying to get back in to the house.
Patrick then banned Nick from the show, and vowed never to have him on again. Audio from the incident was played on NLO episode 89, and the video was made available to members of the
Super Alpha Bonus Club.
In
Episode 062: Nick at Night, Nick Starr brought the reporter and cameraman who were working on an article that hailed Nick as the 'face of new media' for the Saint Petersburg Times in an article titled
His prime time is all the time.
Nick started his own podcast, after leaving NLO, with two other guys and a female host, titled
More Meat Than Tuna. He also has a video podcast (aka a vidcast, or vlog) about being homless titled
No Free Refills. Both were very short-lived, and catastrophically unsuccessful.
In episode 112, Patrick presented evidence from a Blackberry previously owned by Nick to prove Nick to be bisexual. Patrick, after receiving the news,
allegedly approached Nick about it. Most of the evidence came from Craigslist. While most (if not all) fans of the show believe that the ads were indeed posted by Nick, Nick maintained that they were fakes, in his usual "I cannot confirm or deny..." manner.
Nick Starr made several "slams" aimed at the Keith and the Girl Show, calling Chemda ("the Girl") "a cunt". Once confronted during
Episode 200: Dick Starr, Nick attempted to fight back unsuccessfully.
Presently, Nick is living an openly gay lifestyle in San Fransisco and is unlikely to return to the program. He does, however, frequently call in to or is mentioned, (usually made fun of) on the show, and was at NLOL 08.
